Step 1. Pick the right wall

You’ll want a wall that already provides interest, such a wall with a fireplace or unique window. Step 2. Pick the right color

Your accent wall should complement your dominant color, not blend into it. You’ll want to go with a darker shade, rather than lighter, or the room may be appear smaller. A good rule of thumb is to go at least 2-3 shades darker with accent color.

Simplify it - The 60-30-10 rule:

60% of your room should be painted with the dominant color.

30% of the room is dedicated to the accent color. Curtains, bedding, and furniture tend look best in the accent color.
