Commercial Building Protection
One of my recent blogs was about getting bids for a commercial job. But what about the products to protect your investment? Just recently Brooks Painting was re-hired by Valley Farm Transport in Dixon Ca. to re-paint a peeling and deteriorating block building with metal siding. We brought in our Kelly-Moore representative Greg Morgan to write a product specification based on his inspection of the building conditions and challenges. All of the block was falling apart and taking in water. We primed the block with Kelly-Moore Kel-Bond and apply two finish coats of Kelly-Moore elastomeric to seal cracks and to keep the block form crumbling after a soaking rain. Many areas of the block had existing holes that had been drilled for different purposes. Our crew leader Gerry back-filled the holes with expanding foam and applied rapid cement patch to fill in the unsightly holes. See the before and after photos below. The building corrugated metal and unpainted steel was the next task to bring this crumbling building back to life. Many of the metal surfaces were oxidized and rusty. Brooks Painting primed all metal with Kelly-Moore DTM #5725 and applied two coats of Kelly-Moore DTM semi-gloss #5880. This building is out in the weather exposed to sun and rain all year and required the best protection possible. Even though the building isn’t a show piece to look at, it is an important building and required protection not only from the weather but as an investment for Valley Farm Transport. When painting your commercial property, color is important but we at Brooks Painting want to also protect your investment.
