Your front door is the first opportunity to make a good impression. It’s where we greet our guests and it’s where we welcome them into our home. When our front doors have been neglected, it can make a statement as to how we feel about our home and even our guests.
Brooks Painting recently refinished a solid mahogany door. It was located on the south side of the house and was exposed to hours of burning Sacramento sun. The homeowner, who takes good care of his home, had in the previous year, hired someone to refinish the door. Unfortunately, the finish was already peeling and the wood beginning to crack. He was certain that his door was ruined and was convinced his once-magnificent door would need to be replaced.
Fortunately, we have a team of very talented painters who know how to deal with different wood species. One of our crew leaders, Manuel, is one of them. He removed the door, stripped and sanded it, stained it and then applied 2 coats of a marine varnish. He did the same to the sidelights and surrounding window and threshold. What was once a dilapidated door became the showcase for the home. The beauty in the front door was there, it just took Manuel to bring it back to life. In the end, we put the homeowner on a maintenance schedule to keep it protected and beautiful. The most rewarding part of this job was receiving an email from the homeowner that said, “Manuel is a miracle worker, an amazing worker and a gentleman. I like him.” There’s nothing better than a customer that is happy with the results. And for Brooks Painting, there’s nothing better than having a team of guys that takes great pride in their work, and it shows.
