Welcoming a new baby into the family is one of life’s most exciting seasons! But it also means many changes around the house, like babyproofing and of course, decorating the nursery. There are many things to consider when painting your child’s first room, as it will provide stimulation for your baby, set the mood, and contribute to the overall aesthetic.

Things to keep in mind:

1) Colors - the shade you choose can affect the mood of your baby. Greens are associated with a natural learning environment, and blues with calming. Some colors to go light on might be reds and blacks which can be overwhelming to your baby.

2) Odor - choosing an odor-free paint is particularly important in a nursery. Thankfully there are many light or odor-free paints available for a baby’s sensitive nose. Make sure to look for zero VOC paint, which has little to no odor.

Brooks Panting Inc. just finished painting the exterior of our house. The crew did a terrific job. The house is a mid century modern with redwood paneling and an unusual amount of trim work.
