Grinch Couldn’t Steal Christmas
Life Pointe Church in Woodland does an incredibly special event every holiday season called Giving Christmas Away. They pick someone in need and raise money to do something special for them. This year it was Ella Apartments in Woodland. They were providing gift bags to all the residents in 110 apartments filled with gift cards to Food For Less, local restaurants, and more. Then on December 27th they had Mr. Pickles and Snow Shack come out to provide food while they did the gift bags. Unfortunately, between Christmas Eve and Sunday morning the 27th, someone broke into the church and stole all the gift bags. This was close to $20,000 worth of gift cards for these residents.
The easy thing would be to cancel the event and blame the thieves for stealing Christmas. That would not be the case. Volunteers stepped up and redid the bags, and the event went on.
Randy at Food For Less was a hero, he had their tech guy cancel the gift cards and reissued them all in a matter of 3 hours. Fortunately, only 7 of the 110 gift cards had been used. He also provided video to the police of the people who cashed in those 7 gift cards. We want to thank them for dropping everything to make this happen. Without their help, we could not have made this happen.
One of our core values at Brooks Painting is Community. We believe that it is our responsibility to give back to those in need.
