Nationwide Painting Conference
I had the pleasure last week of attending a business conference in Scottsdale Arizona with some of the best painting contractors in the country. I get to do this about twice a year in different parts of the country. One of the comments I get from friends is “Do you just talk about paint colors?” It actually has very little to do with paint, and a lot to do with running a business. We talked this time about:
- Safety programs
- Technology in scheduling and job reporting
- Workers compensation
- Job costing
- Recruiting/hiring, marketing, and more.
Brooks Painting Company Vision
My vision for Brooks Painting is to be the best painting company in all of Yolo County. What this means to me, is to be continuously looking to improve ourselves. We go away each December for 2 days as a management team and plan on what we want to work on for the next year. We assign people to be in charge of each item and then plan out how we will accomplish them. Everything is in writing, has timelines and goals. Goals are very important to us, and we write them down so they can be focused on. It is very hard to accomplish goals if you do not write them down and share them with others. When we keep them in our head, it is too easy to put them off.
We are looking forward to our planning for 2014.
