Great Employees = Great Paint Jobs
At Brooks Painting our average employee has been with us 7.5 years. Now to some that may not sound like a lot, but in the painting world it is. Painters seem to always look for greener grass, and frequently hop from company to company. This year we celebrate 10 years for 2 of our employees, Bud & Ron, who happen to be brothers. I think there are numerous reasons for why our employees stay with us for the long term. More importantly for our customers, longevity of our employees leads to great paint jobs. When employees stay at one place long term, they learn our process of doing things. That equates to consistency for our clients. Our employees develop relationships with our clients, and want to do their best for them. Our employees take pride in the company they work for, and want the company reputation to be the best. So they do their best to make sure every client is taken care. When customers call back for another paint job, they often request the same crew, and because our guys stay with us, they can get the same crew.
So why are they still here? I can’t take all the credit, and say Jeremy is the best boss around. What I have strived to do from the beginning, when I started Brooks Painting 15 years ago, was provide a place my employees want to stay. We try our hardest to provide consistent work year around. In the painting world it is very common for guys to get laid off during the winter when things are slow. We offer fair wages to our employees. We offer health insurance, and paid time off, two things rarely seen in the painting world. We also try to make it a fun environment, and do things like paint balling or fishing. Having fun events for our employees and families, makes it a place people want to call home.
