Congratulations to...
Hillel House! They are the Brooks Painting 2011 Charity Paint Giveaway recipient.Over 6,000 votes were cast by the public; Hillel House received about 50% of the total votes making them this year's recipient. Here is a short excerpt from their nomination story:
"Hillel House has served as a home away from home for college students in the Davis/Sacramento area. As a non-profit foundation that does not charge for most of it's services, Hillel relies almost entirely on donations to operate. While the primary goal of Hillel is to offer educational, social, spiritual, and community service opportunities to Jewish college students, Hillel has always opened its doors to all who wish to enter. "Hillel has outgrown their current facility and they will use this donation to help with the painting of a new facility to serve the increasing number of students participating in Hillel activities.
One of the Hillel opportunities is for students to participate in community service projects. We are happy to say that Hillel has a desire to "pay it forward" by having some of their students donate time and services to lend a helping hand to a fellow nominee, Mrs. Sheila Keys. It is exciting to see charity passed on to others and we will follow up to see how their project with Mrs. Keys progresses.
Thank you to everyone who nominated and voted in this year's giveaway.
