Yolo County Animal ShelterOur local animal shelter in Woodland is in desperate need of exterior painting. With all of the budget cuts there's no money for anything like that.
I am a volunteer there and am saddened that more people don't stop by to see the many adoptable dogs & cats that deserve a second chance in a new home. I believe some fresh paint would make a big difference by making the building more noticable as they drive by & think about coming in an adopting a very deserving animal. Even though the Yolo County Animal Shelter is not a charitable organization, it has several staff positions paid for by the Yolo County SPCA, which is totally funded and made possible by donations. Their partnership has allowed for hundreds of adopted animals within Yolo County.

The budget for YCAS over the years has always been very tight but has recently been cut so deep that it is critical that we need to encourage the public to visit the shelter & adopt animals to help pay for the cost of boarding, spay/neuter & vaccinations all of these animals need. Since becoming a Board Member of the Yolo County SPCA & a volunteer at the shelter, I sadly realized our facility is antiquated and unappealing to the public. Many of us constantly brainstorm about what can be done to make the facility more inviting. We all agree the old building could use painting, new front landscaping and shade structures over the exterior kennels. Of course all of this needs to be accomplished by fund raising & donations of time and money from anyone who is willing to help.

We hope you will consider giving the Yolo County Animal Shelter the opportunity as one of the finalists.
