How to choose your Painting Contractor

Did the contractor show you valid C-33 license?

Brooks Painting's contractor license number is: 737789. It is the law to have a license. When you hire an unlicensed contractor you assume all responsibility/liability. To check if a contractor's license is valid, visit www.cslb.ca.gov

Did the contractor give you a quality guarantee?

Brooks Painting backs our work with a satisfaction guarantee as well as warranties based upon the type of work performed. Reputable contractors should be willing to guarantee their craftsmanship.

Did the contractor give you a warranty?

Brooks Painting's 3 or 5 year warranties include paint and labor. Many painting contractors do not offer a warranty or they prorate their warranty or do not warrant the labor.

Does the contractor carry Worker's Compensation Insurance?

Brooks Painting carries full Worker's Comp. insurance as required by law. If a contractor has employees, the law requires Worker's Comp. be provided.

How long has the company (not the contractor) been in business?

Brooks Painting was established in 1997. We are proud to have surpassed 12 years of service and intend to stick around for many more! Many contractors have short-lived businesses that can not stand by their warranty.

Did the contractor give you a list of references in your area with addresses and phone numbers?

Brooks Painting will happily provide reference lists to you. After each job, we request a customer survey be completed which includes permission to use their information as a reference. Any reputable contractor should be willing to provide references upon request.

Is the contractor a member of the Better Business Bureau?

Brooks Painting hires employees and our goal is to retain them as part of our long-term career team. Quality of work is much more consistent when using employees rather than sub-contractors or temporary hires.

Is the contractor's proposal clear with detailed pricing for each area of your home?

Brooks Painting will provide you with a written proposal with the scope and price of work. With a clear proposal there is less room for error and confusion, protecting both the homeowner and contractor.

Did the contractor specify the type of surface preparation to be used?

Brooks Painting will inform you of the steps being taken to properly paint your home. The amount of surface preparation directly effects the price of your paint job, so be sure to know what preparation steps will be taken when comparing estimates.

Did the contractor discuss the time required for your job?

Brooks Painting will tell you in advance the amount of time needed to complete your job and keep you updated if there are any changes in the schedule. Knowing when the painters will be working at your home helps provide peace of mind and allows proper preparation.
